Abraham Lincoln said, "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." This is exactly what the senior citizens proved at the Sunfeast 10k marathon on Sunday. The senior citizens run was organised by Harmony, an NGO. Silvers, as Harmony calls the senior citizens, made themselves shine during the marathon as they put aside their age and ran the distance, proving that they have got what it takes. Silvers came from all around Bangalore and outside to participate in the grand event. Many of them, part of different clubs and groups, appeared in large numbers cheering and supporting their buddies. Once they had donned their T-shirts, they flaunted their number bibs enthusiastically pulling jokes at each other, their first step into second childhood.

As the chief guests Subbaiah, Pankaj Advani and Ganesh arrived, they jumped with glee, approaching them, touching them and occasionally posing for a photograph or two. Commenting on the event, Pankaj Advani said, "I shared a very close relationship with my grandmother and this was an opportunity for me to interact with other people who are her age. It feels great being here." Mungaru male star Ganesh too expressed his pleasure at being able to witness the event.

Once the event was flagged off, the Silvers ran giggling, holding hands and talking to each other. To assist them, there were paramedic teams who accompanied them in case they faced any difficulties. At the end of the race, they returned to the checkpoint elated and beaming, on being able to complete the event. Relishing the refreshments that were provided, they took part in the lucky draw contest organised by Harmony where they were given watches, mobiles and gift hampers. Prizes were also given to the oldest running male and female Silver.

After the end of the event, they headed home not just with T-shirts and bags but also memories to cherish for the rest of their lives.
