MUMBAI: Aditya Mehta proved that his triumph over Pankaj Advani at the Asian trials was no flash in a pan when beating him again 4-3 in the semi-finals of the Shyam Shroff Memorial snooker tournament at Khar Gymkhana on Saturday. Aditya meets Yasin Merchant who beat Rupesh Shah 4-2.

Advani was in form with breaks of 76 and 130 in the third and fourth frames which he won and later went down 2-3 and leveled 3-all. In the decider the referee ruled Aditya had fouled by touching the red with the rest but Aditya said he didn't. Pankaj said if he hadn't then he should carry on a great gesture for only a few points separated the two. Aditya won the patchy fame to earn a meeting with Yasin.

Aditya Mehta had a pulsating 4-3 win over formidable Alok Kumar in the quarters. Advani, Merchant and Shah sailed into the last four, though Advani endured a late challenge from Lucky Vatnani of Hyderabad.
